Uncomfortable sleeping positions, oily faces, the frequent stops at unknown places and the 14 hour tarago challenge that didn't give a driving fuck; was the trip to Queensland. Queensland is probably the most visited state in Australia and probably always will be the most popular. I don't understand, the temperature is insane, the suburbs are almost the same as Sydney or any other state's suburbs, and the kilometers of beaches? What's so special about them, they are simply sand and salty water contaminated in fish pee. We have that here! The weather, I can complain about until I'm 64 and the cure for QLD's intensely humid weather? An enormous ice-pack that was chucked over the whole state. The next offer to take a road trip to Queensland? My answer: Never again. I will make up for the week long gap by posting a lengthy post, but nobody will even read this, because if its length. Bugger hey? I now commence.
We arrived on Christmas evening, around 6pm or so, there were decorations, Santa hats and semi-naked boys on bikes. We drove around Surfers' Paradise for about 30 minutes before actually locating our apartment. "Capricorn One" it was called, my Aunty called it "modern", I call it "rectangular prism covered in a piss-colored jacket". Living in the apartment, there were no pros and the cons just kept on rolling. The swimming pool was constantly coated with a gray layer of flies and a second layer of leaves. They also posted on their apartment sign that they had public access to the Internet. Oh it was just $2 for 15 minutes, bargain bonanza! And the bed shortages! I slept on the couch in front of the television two nights in a row. Except, I wanted to watch Kyle XY and Nickelodeon all night. (Heeeheee) and the other two nights? With my mother on a single sized bed, a single! What did I do, what did I actually do during my trip in Queensland? The typical visits to Sea World and Dreamworld (we didn't visit the other, because we're Asian [typical excuse] and our two park passes, only were valid for two theme parks: Sea World and Dreamworld. We went shopping in our area; and man were the walks long and hot! In humid weather, like the Josephine we all know, I wore skinnies, because I don't have anything else to wear. So I simmered, boiled, melted and burnt throughout the 5/6 days I spent in Queensland.
Oh man, were the art supplies cheap in Queensland! Acrylic/Watercolor paints, a whole set was $7, paintbrushes (that are totally worth this price, the set consisted of about 12 quality brushes) were $3. Canvases? Prices were insanely unbelievable, starting from $3 to $12. Mind you, $12 could buy you the largest sized possible canvas they cold in the store. $5 could buy you a decent sized canvas. enough with the rants on cheap art supplies, and onto my conclusion about Queensland.
What did I enjoy about QLD? I bought myself a "Beached Whale" shirt. Con: It was from supre. What was the worst thing about QLD? Everything. Few words about the trip Again? Over my dead body.
